Docent guided tours for the public in general can be scheduled Tuesday through Friday between the hours of 10:00 a. m. and 4:00 p. m. School visits under the Museum’s Special Program are offered every Thursday between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The program content is grade level appropriate and designed as an enrichment for all students in life science, earth science, physical science, the social sciences, as well as to enhance students’ mastery of a social activity in a special setting. Each visit is subject to the provisions of a Behavior Agreement required for all student groups. Teachers are encouraged to take a guided tour prior to the students’ visit in order to ensure mutual planning and curriculum alignment..

When scheduling your visit, please consider the time needed to travel to the Museum and arrive on time.

  • Name, email address, district, and telephone number and fax number of the school;

  • Grade level of class;
  • Number of students attending;
  • Number of teachers and chaperones attending
  • The Museum requires one adult chaperone with every ten students
  • Date and time of the visit;
  • Accommodations needed for persons with disabilities.

  • Non-school groups are subject to the general admission schedule;
  • School groups are covered by the special fee schedule specified in the Special Program;
  • Checks, money orders, or purchase orders are made to the Zapata County Museum of History;
  • Payment must be made on or before the day of the visit;
  • Payment may be made by credit or debit card – American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa.

Click here to view a map of the Zapata Museum of History location. Please direct the bus driver to unload the students at the north parking lot next to the Sesquicentennial Park. Buses on tour day may remain parked in the parking lot for the duration of the visit.
 
The teacher of each group will be responsible for reviewing and explaining to the students the provisions and requirements of the Behavior Agreement prior to the visit. The teacher shall submit a signed copy of the Behavior Agreement and a roster of the students on the tour to the clerk at the desk upon entering the Museum.
 

An adult is required to accompany the student groups of ten (10) students at all times during the visit. Each student group will receive instructions from a Docent regarding the area to be toured and when the group will be transferred to a new area to be toured.
